It’s no secret that “research” is the most important skill in Fantasy Cricket. It covers the 100% aspects of the winnings. In fact, it’s a combination of several different skills: you need to master-research the format, tournament, team, pitch, climatic conditions, and assess individual playing 11. In this e-book, I’m going to show you everything you need to know how to do research and win big in any fantasy cricket contest. People may tell you it is pure luck on how you win Dream11 Fantasy Leagues. But let me tell you the truth, Dream11 Fantasy Leagues are all based on how much research you do and select your best teams. Following the Pareto Principle, that’s how you win any big contests. 80% + 20% = Success in any fantasy cricket So, we need to get both parts right to win Mega Contests.
Bottom line? If you want to profit from fantasy cricket, research is a must.
PROTIP: Never ever afford to miss a single player in your team
PROTIP: The most important thing to note is to create a balance in your teams. Only balanced teams win you matches. Always have 5-6 player teams. This combination is the most balanced. There are only two sides to the coin. If your team is not balanced you lose, simple as that.
So always have 5-6 player combinations. Also, don’t miss the secret trick to ensure you are not fooling around with your contests. You’ll find it at the end of this book.
Pareto Principle: 80% and 20% Breakdown
In-depth Research: 80% Part
- Format Analysis.
- Tournament Analysis: Domestic, International, WC, Bi
- Lateral, Tri-Lateral
- Team Analysis
- Playing 11
- Time and Climatic Conditions
- Batsmen and Bowler
Cricket is divided into three formats:
Check out the official dream11 points system for the format and choose the players accordingly. Won’t get into details as we all a pro and we know the formats very well. All you need to know is the points system for each of these formats right. Cricbuzz and Cricinfo is another website to learn more about.
To check and analyze the tournament for the match you taking part in the fantasy league. Cricbuzz and Espncricinfo are a good place to learn more about the tournament.
What I mean by Team Analysis is: You check the previous record of the teams. Now, how you research those? Let me tell you how I do it!
Here we go:
Google is your friend:
You search on google the below term:
“Team Name” + previous matches
Ex- “India Women previous matches” this will give you some results on the google, first being cricbuzz or cricinfo. Go with Cricinfo for all your research and analysis. Now you know how the team performed in the previous matches and take note of the top performing players. This way you know how the team will perform in the upcoming matches and who will perform for the team. Because you know in cricket there are only a handful of match winner for any team. And they keep on winning matches for their team. To check and analyze the teams for the match you taking part in the fantasy league.
You just can’t afford to miss a single player. If you focus on Grand League, you forget about the Contest if you missed any player. Fix this in mind, never afford to miss a single player in your playing 11. You only have to pick the players will is going to play the match. Keep your eye on the news for injury & rested players.
Now as we are talking about your playing 11. This is the best time to discuss the balance ratio. It has to be 6:5
6 players from the better performing team and 5 players from the other team Batsmen, All-Rounder and Bowlers ratios highly depend on the tournament, format, team, pitch and a lot of other factors. So keeping this as simple as possible, never miss the 6:5 players ratio.
Pitch plays a very important role in selecting your playing 11. So, how do you know how the pitch is going to behave in the game? Pitch reports are mostly given out a few minutes before the match starts. That’s after the deadline of the contests and you can’t change your team after the deadline. Same strategy with the team analysis. This time we will do it with the pitch in mind. Check out the previous matches played on the match. Which teams performed, which players performed. Pitches again go into a deep topic to discuss. But as I told you only need to know what you really need to know to win contests. So pitches are mainly into 5 types.
Fast and Bouncy?
Slow and Low?
So, depending on the history of the pitch. Select your star players and you are set for your contests. Research the ground history for the past matches and predict accordingly.
Time and Climatic Conditions
Time of play affects a bit. The climatic conditions play a major role in a cricket match. When the weather is humid the field is wet and its effects in two way-
- Due to the wet condition of the field, the ball hit by the batsman loses its speed constantly as ball becomes soft due to the moisture present on the field.
- Bowler finds it difficult to turn the ball or swing it because the ball becomes soft and loses its grip as it becomes slippery.
It mostly affects the bowling side. And keeping the rain in mind and DLS method. So be sure of the climatic conditions and stay safe with at least one of your teams made keeping the climatic conditions in mind
Bowlers & Batsmen:
- The bowlers split into two – faster and spinner
- Batsmen you split it as broadly as two – classic players like Sachin, Kohli and the one who
smashes like Sehwag, Gayle
Keeping these in mind, you have to make the team. As pitch reports are announced after the
contest closes, we have you the historical archive to check and plan accordingly.
In-depth Research: 20% Part
What’s 20% of 11?
So what we are talking about here is the Captains and Vice Captains. Out of the 11 players you choose, 2 players account for the 20%, which will get you 80% of the points. So how do you select the Captain and Vice Captains?
Identify Match Winners
Match winners will get you 80% of the points. Few examples will be players like Sachin, Kohli, MS Dhoni. They are match winners for Indian Team. They will easily get you 80% of the points on their day. You go with the best, no soft corners for your favorite team or players. Captains and Vice Captains are purely based on current form.
Warning: Read the news
Ex- some player
1st match: 8.5
2nd match: 36.5
3rd Match: 66.5
4th Match: 0 points (He’s sitting on the bench)
If your team has him as C or VC, you would have been knocked out just when the match started.
Read the team news, previews, match reports and then C and VC your player accordingly.
C and VC will bring you the 80% of your total points, so select them very cautiously. Don’t pick them randomly, they should be capable of winning matches, they should be match winners. Captain and Vice Captain you select them based on the pitch conditions. Batting pitch, Batsmen, and All-rounder. And if it’s a bowing pitch, All-rounder, and a bowler work best. So asses the pitch perfectly and select your captains and vice-captains. We also need to research the pitch, how the pitch will behave. Whether it’s a bowler’s pitch or a batting paradise. We pick our players based on that.
If you want to rank #1 in mega contests or win any contest be it H2H or any contest you name it!
You need to understand the “Pareto Principle”
So, what is the Pareto Principle?
According to Wikipedia:
“The Pareto principle (also known as the 80/20 rule, the law of the vital few, or the principle of factor sparsity) states that, for many events, roughly 80% of the effects come from 20% of the causes” So now, let’s understand it in the context of Fantasy Cricket In Dream11 fantasy cricket, we have a total of 11 players in any given contest, we are allowed to create 6 different teams. From the 11 players we choose, only 20% of players will get you the maximum points and if you happen to select them as your Captain and Vice Captain, you win the context and get the top ranks. You need to master 80% + 20% completely to earn consistent money from the contests. We do the complete 100% analysis on how to win mega contests, contests for the champion and head to head contests. So make use of this book from Dream Sage to skyrocket your earnings. So, let’s dive right into it!
How I form my Dream11 Team
I used to do it manually when I first got started. But now I use data science to do it. I use AI/ML model to come up with the perfect team that always wins me all the H2H contests quite easily every time. You can follow my website and telegram for manual analysis. Data science-based analysis is for me and I keep it private to my personal use. From over the years what I have learned is that. You can never survive this game without proper risk management. Risk management is a whole different topic and a complete can be written on this. A simple way to follow risk management is to follow “The Kelly Criterion” We are not going into the details of “The Kelly Criterion”
The principle in Fantasy sports.
Follow the rules if you want success in dream11 or any fantasy contests.
- Join only H2H contests
- Download teams right after the deadline
Risk Management Rules to Follow:
Rule 1: Keep aside exact amount per day for your fantasy leagues
Rule 2: Join only H2H (If you want to work with me)
Rule 3: Never look into other contests – Voh raasta dekhna nhi jisme jana nhi.
Rule 4: Suppose you win on Day 1, Day 2, Day 3. Which means 1000 rs + 1000 rs + 1000 rs = 3000 rs in three days. And if you lose on the 4th day, your net profit equals 1000 rs if you follow this risk management.
Rule 5: If you don’t follow the above rules, what happens is you WIN + WIN + WIN and then one day ONE BIG LOSS, totally wiped out, all your profits went in one day! Never let this happen
My Version of Kelly Criteria:
Rule 1: Same amount each day
Rule 2: If you win, continue with the same amount
Rule 3: If you lose, you increase it with 25%
Rule 4: Next if you win, you still increase your amount with 25% till you earn back your lost amount
Rule 5: After you have earned back your lost amount, you go back to Rule 1 and repeat
So you may ask me, what if I lose continuously? Well, that depends on your cricket skills. If you trust your skills play on or trust us to do all the analysis and provide you with the best teams. With the teams we provide, you win 9 out of 10 teams. So there is not even a question of losing twice in a row.
